With the NFL lockout finally over, the only people more excited than the players are the fans that play fantasy football every season. The key to selecting your team is picking the best players to put you in position to compete every week. While you likely won’t get all of them, check out Chill’s list of can’t miss players by position for your fantasy draft as well as a list of how each position earns points for your fantasy team.

QUARTERBACKS
Quarterback (QB) scoring categories are based on a standard fantasy football scoring system, including:

Passing Yards:1 point / 25 passing yards
Passing Touchdown:4 points
Interception-1 point
Rushing Yards:
1 point / 10 rushing yards
Receiving Yards:1 point / 10 receiving yards
Rushing/Receiving Touchdown:6 points
Fumble Lost:-2 points

Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers) Last season’s Super Bowl MVP earned his stripes in the fantasy department. He’s a capable runner and is armed with a receiving corps of Greg Jennings, Donald Driver and Jermichael Finley. In addition, he was only sacked 31 times in 2010 as opposed to 50 in 2009.

Michael Vick (Philadelphia Eagles) Only played in 12 games due to injury, but threw for 21 touchdowns and ran for nine more. His stats per game were more productive than any QB in the league and he’s also the best running QB in the league.

RUNNING BACKS
Running Back (RB) scoring categories are based on a standard fantasy football scoring system, including:

Rushing Yards: 1 point / 10 rushing yards
Receiving Yards: 1 point / 10 receiving yards
Rushing/Receiving Touchdown: 6 points
Fumble Lost: -2 points
Passing Yards: 1 point / 25 passing yards
Passing Touchdown: 4 points
Interceptions: -1 point

Adrian Peterson (Minnesota Vikings) His ability to run and catch is why he continues to be a fantasy stud. He’s quick, hard to tackle and doesn’t drop the ball (only one fumble in 2010).

Chris Johnson (Tennessee Titans) Explosiveness and consistency are what earn him points. Without a passing threat on the Titans, Johnson will be their prime offensive weapon.

WIDE RECEIVERS
Wide Receiver (WR) scoring categories are based on a standard fantasy football scoring system, including:

Receiving Yards: 1 point / 10 receiving yards
Rushing Yards: 1 point / 10 receiving yards
Receiving/Rushing Touchdown: 6 points
Fumble Lost: -2 points
Passing Yards: 1 point / 25 passing yards
Passing Touchdown: 4 points
Interceptions: -1 point

Andre Johnson (Houston Texans) Remains at the top of the list. A thigh injury slowed him down last season, causing him to miss three games, yet he still led receivers with most points per game.

Greg Jennings (Green Bay Packers) As the  number one option with the top rated QB, Jennings will continue to be a deep ball threat and is still one of the best at after the catch yardage.

TIGHT ENDS
Tight End (TE) scoring categories are based on a standard fantasy football scoring system, including:

Receiving Yards: 1 point / 10 receiving yards
Rushing Yards: 1 point / 10 receiving yards
Receiving/Rushing Touchdown: 6 points
Fumble Lost: -2 points
Passing Yards: 1 point / 25 passing yards
Passing Touchdown: 4 points
Interceptions: -1 point

Antonio Gates  (San Diego Chargers) The top of the TE class for years, because he will always get the ball. Despite missing six games due to a foot injury, he was the second most thrown to on the Chargers.

Dallas Clark (Indianapolis Colts)  Healed from a wrist injury that required season ending surgery last year, Peyton Manning’s favourite option and the key to the Colts system will be back flagging catches in the slot.

KICKERS
Kicker (K) scoring categories are based on a standard fantasy football scoring system, including:

Field Goals 0-39 Yards: 3 points
Field Goals 40-49 Yards: 4 points
Field Goals 50+ Yards: 5 points
Point After Attempt Made: 1 point

Nate Kaeding  (San Diego Chargers) Missed three games mid-season with a groin injury, but still kicked for 82.1 percent. Another key cog in the Chargers second-best rated offense.

Neil Rackers  (Houston Texans) Only missed three field goals all season and made three of four from 50+ yards. The Texans were fourth in total yards last season and will get him in position to score.

DEFENCES
Defence (D) scoring categories are based on a standard fantasy football scoring system, including:

Sack 1 point
Interception: 2 points
Fumble Recovery:
2 points
Touchdown: 6 points
Points Allowed 0 points:10 points
Points Allowed 1-6 points:7 points
Points Allowed 7-13 points:4 points
Points Allowed 14-20 points:1 point
Points Allowed 21-27 points:0 points
Points Allowed 28-34 points:-1 point
Points Allowed 35 points:-4 points

Pittsburgh Steelers - Led the NFL in fewest points allowed, second in fewest yards allowed and third in turnovers created last season. They’re active on the line, finishing first or second in sacks each of the past three seasons.

Green Bay Packers - Much is said about the offense, but the Super Bowl Champions were second in interceptions and fewest points allowed last season.
